She acted like nothing had happened. Or like something tiny had happened, barely anything at all.
After mentioning trouble with names in two email newsletters in a row, it seems important to mention that personally I think I’m fine at remembering names. Come to a book event and find out! But I don’t have any events coming up soon. I don’t really have any other news at all actually, except today is my birthday, and I almost never ever get in car accidents, and I hope you have a nice day and find someone you can be friendly to.
Last year, Darren got his driver's license. The day he got it was his first day of summer band practice, so he drove himself. On his way home, he waved at a friend and took the whole car with him, "bumped" the tire against the curb and the tire "popped" (his words). After making him change it, we took it straight to the shop, so we could buy a new one. While in the parking lot, through a series of unfortunate events, he panicked and backed into a vehicle driving behind him.
He could not have chosen a kinder woman to back into. HIS car had a hole in the bumper, but hers had just a bit of a scuff. She refused to take our insurance info. She waved her hand and said, "Nah. I hate paperwork. I need to have some other work done on it, anyway. What if I just get your information and I'll send you a bill for $50 or something?" A few weeks later she texted me to say it buffed right out and to forget it ever happened.
Occassionally, my faith in humanity is renewed.
Happy birthday
