I lived in France for a year after college, and once I spent a weekend with a random older couple who was there on vacation. They told me they’d never kids, and they might as well have told me they’d had thirty kinds of cancer that year I felt so sorry for them. I still feel sorry for them, because they had to spend most of their vacation weekend with a twenty-something American who was probably pretty insufferable. But even then, they seemed like a family to me.
My family has had four different colds this month, and Boaz thinks since we’ve had SO many colds, maybe one of them was RSV. I wish I’d known when I had RSV, if I had it. But I have a feeling which cold it might have been.
Who is in your family? Do you think you’ve had RSV or any other interesting viruses? Or is it warm where you live? Do you think hamsters make good pets? Did you also think ventriloquism was awesome when you were in 6th grade? I hope your week is full of things you love and that at least once you can silently whisper a really good comeback to someone.
I have started routinely referring to "my family" and everyone always assumes I have kids, while in reality I am a married and child-free, happy dog dad.
I wonder if this voice transcends languages?! I always feel affronted because yes I have a family thank you, it’s me, my partner and my three cats. That’s just as much of a family!
