My son (8 years old) tells birds he sees to have a good day, maybe he’ll start doing that!

The neighbors kitty-corner to me were having a yard sale and it was MOSTLY PLANTS! I came home with 4 new plants and some pots and it was really hard to not bring more home. They were also very sweet neighbors that I probably wouldn't have met otherwise. So lovely!

My son went through a phase around when he was 18 months old where he would show his belly button to flowers. To date it has been my favorite phase and I miss it. I’m glad we have photos though, so I recommend getting your son on video waving to birds, if you can.

I still wave at birds, and I'm 58 (and 3/4). LOVE starlings. I like to walk the dog and look at people's beautiful flowers. Please show picture of what Magnet Man comic looks like!

Until pointing is mastered, I'd like to think that waving is mimicking a wing flapping, and your bb is pretending to fly <3

I'm totally fine with speaking on the phone with family, both me and my cat are recovering from surgery right now and several family members want daily updates on how we're doing. It's nice 😊 But calling to make a doctor's appointment and other "professional" phonecalls is something I struggle with. In fact, I should've called two different doctor's offices today and didn't do it.

My neighborhood has a few abandoned houses and I'm always wondering when they'll do something with them. We have a housing crisis in this city and yet, houses are standing empty. I moved here in December 2022 and nothing has happened to the neighboring house since... I'm lucky to live in a very green neighborhood though, with several parks nearby. It would be quiet too, if I didn't live practically next door to a big hospital. I hear sirens and helicopters frequently, but you do get used to it!

A balloon still trying to celebrate! ❤️

I recently noticed a student making an elaborate comic in class. I asked him if I could “publish it” for him. I brought him to the copy machine and we published it by making several copies and he could select his distribution. I received a copy and keep it posted in my office as reminder to never ignore creativity in action.

Oh wow, kids selling homemade comics? How freaking cool is that. If I had any near me, I would be their whale.

I do hope he never stops waving at birds. I always say thank you to them after they let me take their picture. I do that mostly because I used to think they just hid behind me and wouldn't let me get a picture. But now I wait really patiently and sometimes I get a good picture. This morning I went out with no particular hope of what type of bird I might see and I got an amazing series of shots of a turkey vulture, it sounds a lot worse than it is. It's a very big bird with not the prettiest of faces. He flew off before I could thank him but I sent thanks out in his direction.

I see interesting stuff on the curb pretty regularly on Wednesdays, because Thursday is bulky trash pickup day. I saw a vintage Airdyne bike a month ago and was about half a block away contemplating taking it when a guy came out of nowhere in his compact car, squeezed it into the trunk somehow, and drove off. Easy come, easy go, I guess.

The last thing I saw on the curb was a car seat in very good shape. I did not take it.
