AOL and rabbits and magic
Boaz talks to all the neighbors. A lot of them are retired and Boaz likes talking about a lot of the same things retired people like talking about: gardening, the drought, hyper local news, what’s on sale at the hardware store.
He talks to the neighbors about rabbits, mostly how to humanely get rid of the rabbits.
One of our neighbors said that rabbits are deterred by broken up CDs on the ground, which I love because it sounds like middle school magic. If breaking up a CD and putting it on the ground next to your radicchio buds keeps rabbits away, then dipping your Bonne Belle Glitzsmacker applicator eleven times before putting it on your lips will definitely make Kurt Prescott ask you to the Winter Smash.
Last night Kip and I were chasing rabbits in the street, which I used to not let him do but now it seems like at least one of us should get to do something fun, and we chased a rabbit into someone’s yard, where it stood quietly next to a CD in the grass, somehow immune to the CD’s anti-rabbit magic. Maybe the CD wasn’t broken up into enough pieces.
On walks we usually see more CDs than rabbits. Before moving to this neighborhood I hadn’t seen or thought about a CD in a decade, and now I see them so much I barely notice them anymore.
