The dentist walked away after dropping that news. It seemed like the damage had been done at that point so I somehow played it cool until I walked past a mirror on my way out of the office and it looks - fine? I think it looks fine. She must have meant less noticeable. It’s exciting to think I can still be developing new phobias at this age.
Do you like going to the dentist? (I used to.) Have you experienced that shaving tool? Do you think my tooth looks fine? You can just say it does without seeing it, I’ll take anything.
This week I’m reading Greta & Valdin, have you read it? I’m also using my noticeably-fine teeth to eat coconut macaroons with cardamom, a recipe I just invented (just make regular coconut macaroons and add cardamon). It feels like a million degrees out and we’ve been outside as much as possible, watching Kip take naps.
I hope your week is full of nice things and new foods and that you don’t go to the dentist for three hundred years.
I loved this - did your dentist try and talk to you while they were shaving your tooth? That would have made me deeply upset as I would be afraid it would throw off the precision of their work. Every time I go to my dentist I always hope that this is the visit they won't try and do the chit chat. I hope the same will be true for you in your future visits.
Oh no! That would totally throw me off! One time I was at the dentist and they told me, "whatever you do don't swallow." One of their tools had broken off in my mouth and the sharp part was just above my throat. At least they didn't charge me for the visit. Dentists can be stressful!
