This Substack doesn’t count as medical advice, ask your doctor when and how frequently to take your iron pills. My doctor says to take them with food, but I always think “I bet I’ll be fine, I don’t feel sick at all now” and take all four on an empty stomach and ruin another day. Someday I’ll learn, but probably not soon.
Do you have to dress up every day? I haven’t had to dress up since that job in college, and it still bothers me that we had to dress up - we were answering phones! I’ve had more dreams about working in a call center than any other job I’ve ever had, I think because it was so repetitive - but maybe dress clothes just make you have more dreams. What were your first jobs? Are you good at knowing whether you’re angry or thirsty, and whether the world is terrible or you just are wearing too-small shoes?
Last week I read Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone - I don’t think I’ve read a mystery book since high school, and it was the first book I’d read in a while that wasn’t set in New Zealand (this was Australia) so a huge departure on two different levels. This week I’m reading How To Read A Book - Boaz gave it to me for my birthday, along with a necklace shaped like a Nerds Gummy Cluster.
I hope your week is full of Nerds Gummy Clusters and other good things.
When it’s hot and I have to do stuff, I get angry. I don’t realize it at the time, everyone around me just becomes stupid and slow and unhelpful and willfully in my way.
Nowadays my wife will remind me beforehand: When we arrive at camp, it will be hot while we set up the tents. Remember that you’re not really angry, just overheating.
if your doctor is into it, and you're able to get it, floradix is a liquid iron supplement that is MUCH easier on the stomach.
