I thought I’d post an introduction partly because there might be new people here, and partly because I want to hear the things you love and the things you secretly love. I met up with someone at the bakery the other day and they ordered a bran muffin. It shouldn’t change the way I think about them, but it did. They didn’t seem like a bran muffin person, but now I know that they are. Are you a bran muffin person? Do you think the things you like are a part of your personality? A lot of the things I love feel incongruous with my personality. We contain multitudes. I’m not a bran muffin person though.
This week I finished making a sweater vest with yarn I bought the day I was in labor last summer. It’s Grimace-colored, and I remember choosing that over the brat-colored yarn because Grimace might go better with jeans. It feels like ten lifetimes have passed since I bought this yarn. It feels like a distant cousin of mine bought that yarn, or someone I rode a bus with once. Anyway. Now I have a sweater vest.
Stickers are on their way out to paid subscribers via USPS! If you want to see the stickers again you can go here, you want to be a paid subscriber and aren’t yet, you can sign up here:
There are still some stickers left, and I’ll keep sending them to new subscribers! Thanks again, it means so much to me, and Kip has loves hearing your names.
If you’re looking for a dog to adopt, I walked Mabel this week and she’s SO SMART and also so cute, if I lived with her I’d take a hundred photos of her a day. Marceline is also so sweet, like a peta-ble potato. Both of those links might not work by the time you see this, there’ve been so many good dogs lately.
Thanks for being here and for being nervous with me. I hope this week you see a bird you’ve been looking for, that you get to do a few of the things you love, and that if you love bran muffins you don’t feel shy about it.
I also love the gym! I started going to the climbing gym and it's turned into a 3x/week habit. I ran in college but tried to keep my exercising away from my "real" identity (an ~intellectual~ who read books and wore plaid, obviously). Turns out I have secret jock tendencies!!
And I secretly love stuff like high school drum lines in parades. These teens have worked so hard! They care so much! I cry every time!
May I suggest a category for things you love that don't love you back?
Mine are eating cold tofu, wheat, swings and winter weather.
