Lately I’ve been alternating between looking at things very close up and very far away, going back and forth between things on my street and things on the internet.
Congratulations! Seeing a hawk is a sign of good fortune and positive changes coming. That's in lore for Native American and other traditions. Besides, they are very cool.
I don't know that you should worry about the hawk unless he's perched on a branch staring at you or your dog. I always get very excited when I see a hawk or pretty much any bird or anything in nature because I think sometimes even though my physical age is getting way up there my mental age seems to be as excitable as a 5-year-old. Squirrel! You see what I mean. But often I'll say oh I saw this or I saw that and I have this one friend who says "I see those all the time." And it never fails to remind me that one should never diminish what excites other people. Everyone should be allowed to get excited about things in their world.
Me and my girlfriend always report to each other what dogs we have seen during our day. Any day I see a Bedlington Terrier, which rarely happens, is considered an especially good day.
I loved this! I feel like I often notice hawks when I'm feeling more spiritual, connected with myself, and observant of the world. They seem to remind me of new perspectives, strength, and keen observations. Brilliant as always! Thanks for sharing.
This reminded me about the ”how many owls would you need to see in one day before you start worrying?” meme. I guess it would be basically the same number for hawks.
What made me feel better this week was going to live theater and the opera. Being out, seeing live entertainment among other like-minded people helps me.
I’ve recently found my Grandpas binoculars and have bringing them along on adventures and it’s fun zooming in and then looking at things again the way that your eyes naturally see it and then zooming in at leaves and flowers, butterflies and rocks and branches and birds up close. It adds layers of details light and wonder to seeing the world in a new way every day!
I might be seeing the same big and totally non-metaphorical hawk over and over but feel like I went from seeing a hawk maybe once in a five years to seeing (and hearing! skriiiiiiiiiii!) lots since the end of summer. It's still exciting every time!
I love seeing hawks, osprey, and chipmunks, and even squirrels in the city. It means there is nature in the city. It’s not a sterile, all man-made space.
This week my neighbors went out of town for a trip and hired a pet sitter, but they texted me the day they left to say the sitter would be arriving much later than anticipated and asking if I could go let their 2 senior chihuahuas outside. I was so happy to help out - it put their minds at ease and I got to pet the chihuahuas. Mutually beneficial! I did have to stand outside with them in the drizzle, partly because they absolutely were not going out in the weather voluntarily, but also because we have a lot of hawks here.

I wonder if the hawk is seeing you and is thinking "there they are again!"

I wonder if they read your previous posts about the rat that lives in your bin and are looking for a sure meal?

THIS HAPPENED IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD TOO! Hawks popping up out of nowhere, hadn't ever seen them before! Almost got pooped on by one!
I love seeing an osprey dive into a lake and come up with a fish. It never ceases to amaze me, plus I'm not in any danger. :-)
