I wonder about this ALL the time. I also spend more time than I should wondering about pictures that I might be in the background of. Do I look like a moron? Do people say, "This would be such nice picture of us were it not for that weirdo in the background?"
A friend once messaged me asking how I knew their other friend. I had never met / heard of the guy but I was in his Facebook banner photo! It was taken at a festival and due to the lack of depth perception it looked like I was hanging out with his group I was super relieved that it was a flattering photo of me 😄
My mother was the lovely sort of person who enjoyed complimenting strangers. In line at the grocery store, sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, etc. She loved to brighten someone’s day and start a conversation. She’s been dead nearly 20 years and I still hear “boy I miss your mom” whenever her name’s brought up.
Sounds like my wife. Strangers take an immediate liking to her, and try to tell her their whole life story. I'm a little more cynical and less trusting. I just flashed on an acronym that I made up as a teenager to remember the lessons from a self help book I read: NICH Name, Interests, Complements, Humor. Some of us have to work a little harder to show our nice side.
I specifically chose Amsterdam as one of the cities to visit during my first vacation abroad specifically because my Uber driver, on a similar night as yours, raved poetic about it. I think about him sometimes and wonder if he convinced anyone else to go just from that enthusiasm alone.
Oh I have one, once I had a day off because was visiting the moose countries for training, and ended up in an indoor gym/hockey field (?)/skating rink. So I was on a small rink and was holding for dear life onto one of those crutch walkers they give you so you dont just smack the ground.
So I was clickity clacking trying to walk with these blades on my feet, and besides me on another rink was an angel and her cherub, who was also ckikity clacking.
in a second of silence I heard the angel say to her cherub “just glide” and in that moment I stopped, looked at my feet, and just went “swoosh” gliding inside the empty hockey arena, and kept skating (using the walking crutch of course) for a couple of hours.
I am sure she said it loud so I could hear her, but that phrase has been a lifesaver for many moments on this smashlaptopwhiletripping life
Oh I was a workaholic so my only references to where I was go from gift shops to street food. You know like the burning wrappy food you eat while standing and so
I LOVE THIS!!!! I visited a good friend recently, and she told me she remembered something I said in 1984. She was new at our school. I was sitting at the lunch table with my friend Glen. She walked by, and I asked her to sit with us. We have been friends ever since.
I tend to remember almost everyone who I meet (even though I don't remember names or faces), and I hold onto things that people say for years -- and they would have no idea of this. It's interesting to think about, how much we all affect each other without knowing it.

This is wild! I wonder how many other Facebook banner photos you're in.
Can relate to the photo concern 😅

She sounds like such a lovely person to run into! Thanks so much for sharing, I'm going to try to be more like her today.

One say someone will say of me, "my videographer accidently set my wedding cake on fire".
