I once had my hair washed by a girl who had really long acrylic nails and it felt like she was going to suck my brains out through her fingers, I stared at the clock... counting the seconds until it ended.
I usually use all natural shampoo and conditioner bars made by a girl called ecovana. But I'm also using olaplex right now bc it was gifted to me.
If I lived ANYWHERE in the US, I would be there on March 30. However, as I don't and do not have a passport... I shall just imagine how well you clean up!
I recently went to the hair dresser because I wanted my hair platinum blonde. I love my hair dresser's but hate that whatever I do it's not right. "You used an at home dye kit? Yeah not a fan." "You use shampoo bars? Not a fan." "You don't use a mask or other treatments? I'm stunned!" Ugh. But the washing is nice, and I have gotten over my fear and now ask to make the water cooler.
But yes, I normally use shampoo bars, but not at the moment, because I use silver shampoo now and haven't found a bar that does the same. I prefer the Guhl silver shampoo.
I use Kirkland Brand, and also use Living Proof (but not everyday cause it is more expensive!) I use Living Proof hair styling, and Trader Joe's hair mask as needed :)
Also I don't want to fight you ever, but I hate getting my hair washed, to be fair I hate the whole haircut experience though.
I alternate between R & Co Dallas Biotin Thickening Shampoo and Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo. My favorite part of getting my hair washed is the scalp massage for sure! I love the smell of a new shampoo but I don't like asking what they're using because I feel like I'm opening myself up to a sales pitch and that awkward moment when I have to say, "Um, no, thank you...".
I use a super fancy shampoo that I think you can only theoretically buy at hairdressers, but I found a discount chemist place that stocks it online for $25 less! I can't remember what it's called though. It's in a blue bottle with a white lid? Oil of something?
And I LOVE getting my hair washed. Maybe I like it hot, or my hairdresser is less brutal than yours? Because the temp is always just the right amount of scalding...
I once went to a walk-in salon and the hairstylist said that I must be a swimmer for how chlorine-damaged my hair was ("completely fried!"). I assured her that I hadn't been in a pool in years and she continued to talk about my chlorine-damaged hair. LOL.
I use Ethique's unscented shampoo and conditioner bars. My hair is pretty short, so I have no idea if they actually work well. I *hate* getting my hair washed at the salon. I've been debating showing up with it freshly washed and still wet. I don't need a neck injury while having my scalp scraped up by a stranger. I will say that my salon actually does nail the temperature, so at least I'm not getting burned, too?
I use some kind of honey shampoo, a cheap one, dont like the smell but i bought it so i have to use it. It leaves the hair clean in a wrong way, it just feels too clean.
One time i had a hairdresser massage my hair after a wash, she said it just felt nice. It felt nice for me too :)
Hi! I use Petal Fresh shampoo, the rosemary-mint one. (The only shampoo that has given me a semblance of volume so far, but have only tried ones under 10 euro.) I like the pressure of a hairdresser's fingers during a wash as long as I can't feel their nails, and the smell of nice shampoos! But pretty much all other aspects of hairdresser-going are mild torture to me. Also will never return if someone leaves me feeling like they just barely tolerated me, there are enough barriers to getting a haircut.
I'm also curious about the t-shirt! Melk is milk in Norwegian and I like the thought of a simple t-shirt expressing your favorite food or drink, or maybe your least favorite, I don't know - that's why I'm curious 🙂
Melk is the Dutch word for milk as well. I assume the shirt came from Holland since they were living here, if it is a real shirt. Maybe she just imagined a shirt proclaiming a love or hate of milk. 😆
I forget the name of my shampoo, but it’s a “cheap” one sold at my salon. I buy the salon shampoo since I started having my hair professionally colored, in the hopes the color will last longer. (Does it? 🤷♀️)
I recently tried a shampoo bar, in an effort to be more environmentally conscious and to be, like, more pure and clean. But it didn’t seem to really clean my hair, so I abandoned it. (I’m still open to shampoo bars, if anyone has any suggestions!)
There is a huge difference in shampoo bar brands. I tried Nature Box but it doesn't lather, and I tried cheap drugstore own brand that's wonderful 🤷🏻♀️ I recommend trying cheap ones to see what they do for you, atleast then it won't cost you tons. Some are so expensive...
That’s the worst part, it wasn’t a cheap bar that I bought! I wound up using it as body soap, so it’s not going to waste, but it’s still annoying. I’ll have to give some others a try!
Yeah, Nature box isn't cheap either. I think it's quite odd that some cheaper bars actually do a better job than some expensive ones. You would expect to get what you pay for.
Easier said than done, I know, but you should tell your stylist the water is too hot! I’ve definitely had comfortable washes before.
I used Matrix shampoo/conditioner when I lived in the US and was super excited to find it in a TJ Maxx when I was feeling especially homesick a few months after moving to the UK. It smells like hair salon shampoo to me and made every shower feel luxurious.
I still remember the appalled look on my stylist's face when I told her I had been using Lush solid shampoo bars. She was like, please stop. Now I use Oribe which is def expensive but there is a huge difference in grease factor.
I use Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo. It's not great but I have short hair so it's never around long enough to get very damaged. I used to work at a fancy makeup store in the mall and I used Alterna Caviar Shampoo, and honestly my hair FELT much better then.
Yes, the water temperature has been perfect. Not always, but usually.
I use a shampoo from Ecolatier. It doesn't have silicons, so it's good for curls (and those who aspire to have those). But then again my hair's been falling out... The point is, I'm not really sure if that's a good shampoo. :0
I love getting my hair washed before a haircut as well — having my scalp massaged during the wash feels amazing (as long the person washing my hair is gentle and not trying to yank out all my hair).
Although I am almost a middle aged man, my shampoo has the Little Mermaid on its bottle, and it smells like cherry.

PS: curious about your MELK shirt!

That was what I was wondering, lol - not that every style choice needs a reason of course :P.

I use shampoo by Griffin Remedy. It’s very gentle (perfect for dry, wavy hair) but might not be suitable for everyone https://griffinremedy.com/collections/hair-care
